Unfortunately, horses are one of the most abused and neglected animals in the United States. Even events and organizations that rely on horses and other livestock to function will often use abusive or harsh techniques when working with these beautiful creatures. Additionally, despite being illegal in the U.S., many horses are shipped off to slaughter in Mexico and Canada. These horses end up in these situations by no fault of their own, often they are sold at auctions and purchased by “kill-buyers” who ship them off to slaughter for profit. Here at From the Ashes Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation, we take in these majestic animals and work with them to get them fit for a new forever home. Through training these horses get the best chance to avoid ending up in a situation that would result in them returning to any rescue.
