Sidney Mathes
Sidney has always had a love of animals and horses. After rescuing her own horse from a “kill-pen” she was inspired to help other horses find their forever homes by starting From the Ashes Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation.
David Seifert
Sidney’s fiance and co-founder of From the Ashes Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation, David has worked to bring Sidney’s dream to a reality. David was the one to encourage the creation of a rescue when Sidney thought that such a goal might be unrealistic for them. With little horse experience of his own David supports the rescue on the business side.
Marianne Miller
Marianne brings year of horse experience to the table and has been by Sidney’s side ever since she got her first horse, Rose. Marianne soon started working with Sidney as her trainer, and when Sidney mentioned the idea of starting a rescue she was more than willing to help out in any way possible.
Rose
Sidney’s first horse who has and continues to teach her so much about owning and caring for horses. Rose is one of our personal horses here at From the Ashes and may one day work as a therapy horse.
Kiara
The first rescue that Sidney acquired. Kiara was rescued from a kill pen in North Carolina and brought out to be a friend for Rose. She inspired the creation of From the Ashes Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation and continues to stay with us here working on her own recovery and inspiring the team with her outstanding progress.
Rajah
Our head of security here at From the Ashes, Rajah spends most of his time out with the horses on patrol. Sidney and David first got him to protect their own horses back in June 2023 when he was 6 months old. Since then Rajah has learned a lot about being a livestock guardian and works hard to keep his area safe from predators.
